The Bahamas
The Bahamas can make an ideal tourist destination for anyone who loves beaches, the search for the perfect sea shell, building sandcastles or just lounge in the sun. Though water related activities are the most prominent enticements, these islands also offer a plethora of other rainy-day options, especially the islands of Nassau and Paradise Island.
Nassau is replete with a splendid heritage, the Bahamas Historical Society Museum and Parliament Square being the prominent ones. The Museum has an impressive display of ancient military uniforms, weapons and tools and photographs. Those of you who are into stories centered on pirates and the lofty seas can check out the interactive exhibit collection recovered from the pirates of the Caribbean at the Pirates of Nassau. Another popular attraction in Nassau is the swim with the dolphins’ opportunity. The Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Encounter is a great opportunity to stand in waist deep turquoise blue waters and caress the Dolphins as they swim past. Snorkeling enthusiasts can don their gear and actually go swim with these gentle creatures. Once you get back into dry land you can visit the Garden of the Groves which is located in Freeport. It is basically a children friendly area where you can spot lot of snorting pigs, stunning flamingos and vibrant macaws.
